About Us  

Rotheras’ Employment Team pride themselves on delivering straightforward, pragmatic advice to both commercial clients and individuals.  We pride ourselves on our reputation and work to exceed client expectations every time.  Working alongside our Senior Associate Solicitor, this position offers a unique opportunity to play a key part in our expanding Employment department, in a role that you will be able to make your own.  

What are we looking for in an Employment Lawyer at Rotheras?  

You must be able to demonstrate detailed knowledge and technical expertise in managing a caseload that covers all areas of Employment Law. Alongside a proven track record in advising on all aspects of employment law, you should have a keen interest in business development and marketing. 

The Role  

  • Managing a caseload of contentious and non-contentious work 
  • To provide comprehensive and timely advice and assistance to companies or individual clients or HR departments on both contentious and non-contentious employment law and employee relations issues either in person, by telephone or in writing  
  • To draft contracts of employment, policies, procedures and other employment-related documents 
  • Advising on disciplinaries, restrictive covenants, TUPE matters, company restructuring, discrimination grievances, redundancy and selection and collective consultation to dealing with complex employment tribunals claims through to trial
  • Advising employees and employers on Settlement Agreements  
  • Supporting corporate and commercial colleagues in mergers, acquisitions, share sales and other corporate and commercial transactions  
  • Active role in business development and marketing   

Skills and attributes  

  • Be able to show a track record of meeting deadlines and targets 
  • Experience of both respondent and claimant work (desirable) 
  • Strong IT skills with experience of using Microsoft Office 365 
  • Self-motivated and expresses a keen interest in self-development in your own area/s of expertise  
  • Interest in business development, ability to generate new clients 
  • Excellent client care and building relationships with colleagues, third parties and counsel  
  • Proven successful track record in handling a Tribunal caseload, including advocacy at preliminary and full merits hearings 
  • Exceptional written and spoken communication skills  
  • Creative thinker
